Spedia
Bar is a Web service that works with your Web browser (Netscape
Navigator or Internet Explorer). You get paid for each minute
you have Spedia Bar active. In most cases, Spedia Bar will
display advertising information that will be of interest to
you. You will be just a click away from checking out what
the competition has to offer.

order to use Spedia, you need to be running Microsoft WindowsTM
95, 98 or WindowsTM NT.

Installation
- To
use Spedia Bar, you first must register with www.spedia.com.
Once you complete the registration process you can download
Spedia Bar and start generating cash. Please, remember your
login name and password, as you will need them to log into
all Spedia services.
- Download
Spedia Bar software.
If
you use Netscape Navigator, Netscape Communicator, or
Microsoft Internet Explorer you must download spedia.exe
file in a separate Windows directory such as C:\spedia.
Click here

- Start
using Spedia Bar by running the spedia.exe file in your
Windows environment.
If you get an error message that
"The dynamic link library MFC42.DLL could not be found"
or
"THE ORDINAL 6880 COULD NOT BE LOCATED IN THE DYNAMIC LINK
LIBRARY MFC42.DLL"
or
"The file is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6880"
you must download MFC42.DLL into the Windows system directory.

If you receive the following message: "Can not connect to
Spedia Server. Check your Internet Connection options and
try to login again.", you will need to delete the Spedia.dat
file from the directory where you have stored the Spedia.exe
file. This procedure will ensure that your Spedia.dat file
is properly initialized.
Getting
Started
For
Spedia Bar to work you must be connected to the Internet.
Start
your Spedia Bar by double clicking on spedia.exe file or on
the automatically created shortcut.
Upon
starting Spedia Bar you will be prompted to enter your login
name and password. You must provide your correct login name
and password every time you start Spedia Bar in order to get
credit for the time you spend using the Bar.

If
you encounter login error "Spedia Server is unavailable.
Spedia terminates!" you probably have experienced one
of the following error conditions:
- Spedia
server is offline due to network or service problems
- Your
Spedia Bar Proxy server configuration is invalid. To fix
this problem you have to make sure that the proxy configuration
of your Spedia Bar is exactly the same as the proxy configuration
of your Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.

Bar consists of the following components:
1.
Ad Sections
Two
sections for placement of advertising materials. Clicking
with the left mouse button on the banners will open your default
Web browser and will load the appropriate web pages.
2.
Spedia Bar Control Panel
The
control panel allows you to access different functionality
of Spedia Bar. The Control Panel can be in three modes - Status,
Menu and Search mode. The Control Panel can be also docked
or undocked from the main Spedia Bar body.
2.1.
Status Mode

When
in Status mode, the Control Panel allows you to:
1.
See when Spedia Bar downloads banners - Download Status Indicator
is activated.
2. See when Spedia Bar Radio is playing - Radio Indicator
is activated.
3. Easily take advantage of the Fast Points program which
allows you to daily earn points - click on the Fast Points
Indicator.
4. Easily browse through the Spedia offerings to earn even
more points.
2.2. Menu Mode

The Home Menu allows you to quickly access various Spedia

A shortcut to the Spedia Options dialog where you can
tune up the work of Spedia Bar. |

The Spedia Deals menu displays a list of various Spedia
offerings. You can participate in each offering
by clicking on the respective menu item. |
| Games |
The Spedia Games menu displays a list of various Spedia
games. You can play a game and yearn cash for
this. |
| Shop |
Clicking on the Spedia Shop menu you will have a page
with a list of e-commerce sites where you can
buy things from and get Spedia points for this. |
| Music |
Spedia
Bar offers an exciting new feature - listening
to an online RADIO. Click on the Music
button to invoke the Radio menu from which you
can select up to 30 online Music Radio stations. |

2.3. Search Mode
The
search mode allows you to easily search through different
Web Search engines or within the Search Categories of a Search
engine. To use the search function of SpediaBar:
- You
specify a keyword to search in the keyword field.
- From
the Search Engine/Category field you specify the Search
engine to search in.
- Press
the Go button to start the search process. The search results
are displayed in a separate browser window.

2.4. Docking and Undocking the Control Panel
Click
on the Control Panel Docking button to dock the Control Panel
or to undock it. When the Control Panel is undocked, the Spedia
Bar is in compact mode allowing you have Spedia Bar take less
desktop space. The undocked Control Panel can be moved to
any place on your desktop to optimize your workspace. To dock
the Control Panel, click once again on the Control Panel Docking
button.

3. Spedia TaskBar
The
TaskBar allows you to modify the functionality of Spedia Bar.
Spedia Bar icon is located in the Windows system tray at the
rightmost part of the Windows TaskBar Systray (next to the
time indicator). Double clicking with your left mouse button
will place Spedia Bar on top of all opened windows.

Arranging
Spedia Bar On Your Desktop
1. Moving the Bar
You can move Spedia Bar to a location of your choice on your
desktop. To do this, click on Spedia Bar "gripper" located
at the left of the Bar, hold down your mouse button, and drag
the Bar to the desired location.
2.
Docking the Bar
You "dock" Spedia Bar at the top or bottom of your desktop.
You can do this by moving the Bar to one of the four sides
of your screen. Your Bar is automatically "docked" at the
upper or lower part of your screen. To "undock" your Bar,
simply grab the Toolbar "gripper" and drag the Bar away from
the edge of the screen.
3.
Closing the Bar
To close the Bar, you have to right-click on the Bar or on
the TaskBar icon and from the popped-up menu select the Exit
menu option. This will close both Spedia Bar and Spedia TaskBar
icon.

checked this option will make the Spedia Bar open

Invokes
the Spedia Options configuration dialog. Using this
dialog you can adjust different settings of the
Spedia Bar. |

Connection |
You
can use this option to setup your Proxy connections.
If you do not use proxy services to connect to
the Internet, then you do not need to use this
option. The proxy server network address and
port number must be exactly the same as the proxy
server setup of your Netscape or Microsoft Internet
Explorer browser.

setup of your Spedia Bar. You must use exactly
the same proxy settings (network address and port
number ) as the proxy settings of your browser.

Cookie |
Manual
cookie reset may be required if you experience problems
accessing sponsors' sites. Spedia Bar supports proprietary
cookie protocol that is NOT connected with your
browser in any way. |

When does Spedia Bar generate
Ad Points for me?
Spedia
Bar is a Windows application that displays advertising content.
You will be paid according to the number of Ad Points you
generate. Every minute that you have Spedia Bar active you
will generate one Ad Point.
How
do you know when Spedia bar is generating Ad Points for you
?
Spedia
Bar has three states for accumulating points.
1.
Green Light

Active
Mode.
The green color of the Alert Light indicates that you accumulate
points for the time of watching ad banners. Spedia Bar accumulates
points for you upon the following conditions:
- You have you web browser open and active.
- You change URL addresses every 1 minute.
2.
Yellow Light

Passive Mode.
The yellow color of the Alert Light indicates that you DO
NOT accumulate points. The Alert Light is yellow upon one
of the following conditions:
- You
have your browser open and active but you have not changed
the URL of the browser for 1 minute or more.
- The
Spedia system is not operating properly due to some technical
or network difficulties. Please check your connection to
Internet and/or restart you Spedia Bar.
3.
Red Light

Inactive Browser.
The red color of the Alert Light indicates that you DO NOT
accumulate points. The Alert Light is red because you do
not have an open and active web browser.
